Sa po\u00e9sie sur le fil r\u00e9pond \u00e0 celle de l\u2019univers mozartien. <em>L\u2019Enl\u00e8vement au s\u00e9rail<\/em> est autant une fable sur un Orient mythifi\u00e9, celui des harems et des captives occidentales, qu\u2019un hommage au courage de l\u2019admirable Constanze, h\u00e9ro\u00efne in\u00e9branlable dans sa fid\u00e9lit\u00e9 amoureuse.<\/p>\n<p>Mozart est \u00e0 son aise dans cette turquerie o\u00f9 il peut joyeusement mener sa musique au rythme des fl\u00fbtes piccolo, grosses caisses, cymbales et triangles, enfoncer le m\u00e9chant dans des graves redoutables et offrir aux fid\u00e8les amoureuses de ces vertigineuses prouesses vocales qui, en quelques airs, savent suspendre la com\u00e9die pour saisir le spectateur de l\u2019\u00e9motion la plus pure et la plus sinc\u00e8re.<br \/>\nL\u2019h\u00e9ro\u00efne de L\u2019Enl\u00e8vement au s\u00e9rail, porte le m\u00eame pr\u00e9nom que la jeune Constanze Weber qui, \u00e0 vingt ans, \u00e0 peine trois semaines apr\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re de cet op\u00e9ra, se mariera avec Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. M\u00eame si la similitude des pr\u00e9noms n\u2019est due qu\u2019au hasard du livret de Gottlieb Stephanie, l\u2019existence de cette future \u00e9pouse qui l\u2019accompagnera jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la mort a de toute \u00e9vidence inspir\u00e9 le compositeur.<br \/>\nPlus que les bienfaits de l\u2019amour, il y a une secr\u00e8te jubilation chez ce Mozart dans la force de son art. D\u00e9barrass\u00e9 du contr\u00f4le d\u2019un p\u00e8re rest\u00e9 \u00e0 Salzbourg et affranchi de l\u2019emprise du prince-archev\u00eaque qu\u2019il venait de servir pendant onze ans avant d\u2019\u00eatre cong\u00e9di\u00e9 comme un voyou, il pouvait enfin pr\u00e9tendre \u00e0 son plus cher d\u00e9sir : composer librement.<br \/>\nMozart r\u00eavait d\u2019op\u00e9ras allemands pour asseoir sa notori\u00e9t\u00e9 de compositeur \u00e0 Vienne, l\u2019empereur Joseph II r\u00eavait d\u2019op\u00e9ras allemands \u00e0 donner au Burgtheater. Joseph II passa commande, Mozart lui composa son premier op\u00e9ra en langue allemande avec une fougue toute juv\u00e9nile. Dramaturge autant que musicien pour que rien ne lui \u00e9chappe, s\u2019amusant du contraste entre le rude parl\u00e9 des puissants et le chant raffin\u00e9 de leurs prisonniers, guidant adroitement un librettiste accommodant, sacrifiant la logorrh\u00e9e h\u00e9rit\u00e9e de l\u2019op\u00e9rette d\u2019origine pour que seule la partition soit foisonnante, anoblissant les mots et tournures qu\u2019il trouvait vulgaires, sabrant les rimes qui ne servaient que d\u2019autres rimes car \u00ab dans un op\u00e9ra, il faut absolument que la po\u00e9sie soit fille ob\u00e9issante de la musique \u00bb, il voulait \u00e9videmment, pour ses grands d\u00e9buts de compositeur ind\u00e9pendant, \u00e9blouir l\u2019empereur et le public viennois.
